Understanding basement tanking and waterproofing
Cellars and basements sit below ground level, so the walls and floor are under constant pressure from groundwater. Waterproofing them to BS 8102 normally uses one of two approaches. A cavity drain membrane manages water by letting it run behind a studded membrane to a drainage point. Cementitious tanking forms a waterproof barrier bonded to the wall. We survey the space and recommend the system that suits it.
